Hotels in Beijing
In first two decades following the foundation of the Peoples Republic of China in 1949, Beijing had virtually no hotels; this was due to the fact that economic and social conditions at the time were quite bad. But in the late 1970s, Beijing, alongside much of China and during a period of social reform and economic growth under the watchful eye Deng Xiaoping, saw greater attempts at attracting and catering to international business. Large numbers of hotels and other facilities to accommodate business, tourist, and other visitors were constructed. Beijing's today with its size and status as one of the most visited and economically, politically, and culturally important cities in Asia, has a great great number of hotels, that rival the highest international standards that the rest of the world and China has to offer.

Beijing is a growing destination and as a result throughout the next couple of years construction work will be ongoing. Most hotels in Beijing are being affected by the works, the exciting new projects include, The Beijing Olympics, which are soon to be held here in 2008. These fabulous developments will ensure that Beijing continues its reputation as an innovative and attractive destination. It should be noted that these works are moving very quickly and what little disruption there is, is always kept to a minimum.
